Frequently Asked Questions

How can I get your dice?

  • Shop Restock - we sporadically run shop restocks where we upload all of our current product at once. The dates for these restocks are announced ahead of time, usually via social media, discord or email (so make sure you’re subscribed to keep up to date!).

  • Commissions - we have a commissions application form open via our website where you can apply to receive a quote for a custom dice set of your choice.

  • Giveaways - We occasionally run giveaways via our social media platforms.

How much do your dice cost?

Our dice prices range between $150-$200AUD depending on the complexity of the dice and the materials required to make them. Commissions prices begin at $200AUD as you will be able to personally revise parts of the dice with us and a quote is provided for each commission after form submission. The quote price is also determined based on complexity and materials required.

How much is shipping?

We ship via Australia Post locally and internationally. Once international, Australia Post transfers to a courier of their choice.

  • Local (within Australia) - starts at $8.50AUD and is based on weight

  • International - $25AUD and is based on shipping

  • NZ shipping starts at $16AUD

Are your dice balanced?

Most handmade dice are fairly balanced, however, whilst we do our best to ensure this, no dice (including those from manufacturers) are 100% balanced. We will not sell any dice with major bubbles that can affect balance, but inclusions, colours and other decorative elements make it impossible for them to be perfectly balanced. Any minor balance issues in our dice will not affect the randomness of rolls and make these dice perfectly acceptable for your D&D game and others.

How do I finish your raw sets?

Finishing dice comes down to three major steps: Sanding, Polishing, and Inking. Please make sure that when finishing your dice you use proper safety equipment. Please wear gloves and a respirator mask when working with resin and try to do this in a well ventilated area. This part of the process is the most time consuming and can take many hours. We recommend patience. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out at info@thetwilightgrove.com or via any social platform.

  • Sanding - We like to begin with 1000 or 1200 grit sandpaper before moving onto polishing papers. We recommend Zona paper which is available on Amazon or from some local craft stores; the green paper should not be necessary as it is 600 grit and therefore more rough than the sandpaper. We also offer a polishing kit available for purchase with your raw dice. Place the paper on a solid, flat surface (we use a glass pane but mirrors also work). Wet the sandpaper/paper and the dice you are working on and place the side you are working on face down onto the paper. Move the dice in circles, keeping even pressure. We recommend rotating your dice and changing the direction of your circles to avoid uneven sanding. Continue this until the face is completely matte. Repeat this for each face of your die. Clean out any sanding dust from the numbers using an old toothbrush and some water as residual sanding dust can increase scratches as you continue. Move onto the next polishing paper and repeat then above steps, wetting the paper and moving the dice in circles until the scratches from the previous paper are buffed out and the dice has an even shine. Repeat these steps until you complete all levels of polishing paper on your dice and you have cleaned out the numbers. The ‘Polishing’ step below is optional but for that extra shine you may wish to give it a go!

  • Polishing (optional) - Sanding the dice to the finest zone will polish your dice well enough but we like to finish our dice with a polish using a cut and polish (we use ScratchX but you can also find Plastix and other polishing compounds on Amazon and in automotive stores) for extra shine. Apply the polishing compound to the white Zona paper (as if you would the water earlier) and polish until you are happy with the shine. Use a microfibre cloth to clean up remaining compound for that nice shine. Some ScratchX will be included as part of the polishing kit should you wish to purchase it.

  • Inking - We use acrylic paint and a small brush to ink our dice. You can mix your own colour or buy an existing one. Use the brush to apply the ink to the numbers freely - it will get on the face and this is okay. Use your finger, paper towel or an alcohol wipe to get the excess paint off the face and move onto the next. Once your inking is completed we recommend cleaning with isopropyl alcohol and microfibre or an alcohol wipe to truly finish your dice. We also offer inking kits for any raw dice you might purchase from us.

Returns and Refunds

At this time, we do not offer any returns or refunds. If your magical math rocks arrive damaged, or is lost, please reach out to us and we will see what we can do; we offer a return-for-replacement policy on items that arrive damaged. Please send us a message to let us know what happened. Your dice may arrive with small scratches - these dice are a handmade item and, whilst we do our best to minimise any flaws, no dice will be 100% perfect. But we always want you to be happy with the product you receive so please reach out with any major concerns!
